New Orleans got exposed to the steamroller that is Cory Henry’s band, the Funk Apostles, that night. The 31 year-old organ/keyboard extraordinaire and former member of Snarky Puppy showed once again that he can do it all. At the head of this well-oiled groove machine, he went from showing off his gospel background and large organ sound pushing his audience into trance-like states to pulling groans out of the most demanding jazz-heads, with chops so sharp they are hard to even comprehend.
